The main purpose of this project was to conduct a regional investment climate study for the five regions of Kosovo, with the aim to gather, analyze and report findings related to the socio-economic history, current stage and potentials across these regions. The overall objective was to retrospectively scan the socio-economic development in the regions throughout the years 2009 – 2013, get a clear picture of the current socio-economic state (2013-2014) and possibly generate forecasts for the years 2014-2015. Furthermore, the specific objectives were: a)To assess the socio-economic development and scan the business climate throughout surveying 200 businesses for each of the 5 regions (the regions correspond to the Regional Development Agencies (RDA) established by EU Office in Kosovo; Center, North, West, East and South); b) Organize 5 focus groups in each region, to obtain perceptions of various (municipal, media, civil society – amongst others) actors on topics of interest; c) Get a clear picture of where each region currently stands, identify the potentials of each region and make forecasts for 2014 through generating a set of indicators, known as, Leading Economic Indicators (LEI); d) To compare findings across the regions and present them in a conference; and thus engage various stakeholders from central government, local government, business, media and civil society spectrum.
